Jelly Adhesive G2
Technical data
This hot-use, low odour natural adhesive is
formulated using technical gelatine and has a longer
open time than our G1 jelly adhesive.
Its lower viscosity provides very even and economical
coating weights and is suitable for use on Immecia,
Stokes & Smith, Swift and Balema machines and where
turning in by hand requires longer open times.
Like the other gelatine adhesives in our `G' range,
this adhesive contains ingredients to give excellent
non-warp characteristics, particularly when used
undiluted. However, it may be diluted with warm water to
suit the various box covering applications, different
papers and to provide longer open time, thus meeting
customers' individual requirements.
DIRECTIONS FOR USE:
- Supplied in 12.5 kilo cases. Slabs are partially
cut into approximately 1 kilo, easily separated,
pieces.
- The adhesive should be placed into the adhesive
trough and heated to a temperature of 50° - 6°C
(120°-140°F) when it will liquefy and be ready for
use. In no circumstances must the heat of the
adhesive exceed 60°C (140°F). Continuous running
above 60° C will cause the adhesive to deteriorate.
- The adhesive may be used as supplied, but may be
diluted by up to 15% to suit the work in hand,
(dilute with warm water). If evaporation has
occurred, small quantities of warm water may be
added.
NB: Open time of this adhesive can be
lengthened by the addition of warm water
The adhesive is completely non-foaming and entirely
innocuous.
F.D.A. STANDARDS: The materials used in this
formulation conform to the requirements of the Code of
Federal Regulations 21 CFR175, 105.
Effect on the Environment
Being a natural colloid, this adhesive is water
soluble and any paper/board bonded with it is completely
recyclable. It is also biodegradable in normal effluent
processing plants and will break down in the soil to
become an organic plant nutrient.
